Item:  Port Dictionary of Technical Terms

Price:  $45.00

Description:
I have personally never heard of many of the terms well defined in this book, have you ever had contact with a shear leg derrick, an guantree, lazaretto, larry, and other terms that are covered in this reference. The book was owned by the head of shipping out of Manilla in the close of WWII and was originally printed in New Orleans prior to WWII. Interesting if you are involved with shipping.

James Fenimore Cooper was a favorite author that is still appreciated today and this book with illustrations by Donald S. Humphreys is just a wonderful story. The novel tells the story of early cowboy and settler life on the prairie and is very well descriptive of this era and lifestyle. Interesting and certainly offering stories of interaction between early settlers and Indians with a caring side, showing both facts and period view points, this book would be of interest to both historians and general readers. The front cover shows some wear and is very colorful.
