The original tree of life crewel fabric remains on the chair and could be restored. The chair appears to be 19th century and is in excellent condition. It is possible that this is a late 18th century chair with the carving on the legs the crewel fabric appears to be period and could be researched by a serious American furniture collector.

Item:  1840s Faux Mahogany Finished Armoir

Description: 
One of the best conditions of original grain painted surface in faux Mahogany that you could imagine and the cupboard even retains the original clothes pegs in the interior. The back has very detailed hand plane marks. There was never a molding to the top and the effect is almost one of an architectural piece. This was made from the Swann family of Squirewood in Dandridge, Tennessee prior to the mansion's completion in 1852. It descended down through the family until the present generation. The wood appears to be Poplar and the graining surface is in excellent condition for 160 years of age.

Item:  A 19th Century Sugar Table

Description: 
American Sugar Chests are among the rarest forms of Southern furniture and a Sugar Table is even rarer. This table has a top that is hinged and a false fronted drawer that makes the table look like a one drawer table. Very tapered legs original grungy white painted surface one hinge broken the other useable this table has a penciled inscription on the underside of the lid that identifies the maker place and year. It descended in a family from the Great Valley of Virginia and located to Tennessee prior to the Civil War. The table has had use and has had minor replacements many many years ago. For any serious collector I will be glad to identify any replacements and answer questions. If you collect early furniture how many times have you had the opportunity to purchase a sugar table?
