Stained dark wood with footed base nicely offsets the white dial behind glass face on this circa 1950s mantle clock. Everything seems to be in good working order and clock is complete. Great retro look that would be great in your retro d?cor. There is no makers name visible, the clock when wound runs and is actually a charming piece with an almost passenger ship look. Title: French Mantle Porcelain & Bronze Clock Set

Description

The movement of the clock is marked H & F or T Paris with a number. The porcelain is hand painted, signed Lesueur, shows classically dressed figures in a garden setting on the vases, a romantic landscape on the back side. The handles are heads of gilt bronze or dore, the feet are stylized leaves with animal paws, probably gilt as well. The clock has a good strong hinge to the beveled glass face cover, the cherubs in the center of the face of the clock and the cherubs on the sides of the clock all match each other. The raised gold work around the clock is in really outstanding condition. The finials on the top almost resemble acorns or some form of classical nut. There is no visible marking to the porcelain, but it would be likely to be third quarter of the 19th century. No doubt French, no visible chips or cracks, some surface firing bubbles to the porcelain but overall in really fine condition.

Title: Lenzkirch Art Nouveau Mantle Clock

Description

Pure Art Nouveau style with all exterior brass case, there is a stylized garland or wreath around the half circled top, raised brass numbers for the face, rosette circles on the front and what almost appears to be bell flowers on each side of the beveled glass center front, beveled glass end panels, all beveled glass intact, graduated base with beaded design around the edges of the base, the interior of the back brass panel has a figure seated under a tree with animals and a sunburst or ray in the background. The works are signed Lenzkirch/1 Million/71/581925, and would appear to date from 1880 to 1885 from the markings. The clock needs a good cleaning and key, nothing appears to be missing or broken and even the back is intact. 14 3/4 inches tall by 7 7/8 inches wide at the base and 4 inches deep. This is a most unusual clock, nothing like this is shown on the extensive website for the old Lenzkirch Company. It has descended through an old German family of New York Bankers.
