	Description This chest has descended in the family of Captain John Anderson, a well known Massachusetts and Connecticut steamboat owner. The lunette inlay around both the top and base section is indicative of the school of the Seymours and today is considered a masterpiece type furniture. The interior of the top drawer was altered in the late Victorian time into a division made of Birds Eye Maple. The hardware is original to the piece and the finish is old if not original.
