Title: American Federal Sofa with Scrolled Arms

Description

This sofa retains its original finish and the details of the carved feet and animal wings are certainly attractive. The scroll arms are finely executed and the back has a Mahogany inlaid panel in the center of the top. The wood of the entire sofa appears to be Mahogany. Full provenance available to the buyer. During the mid 20th century, many American brides were photographed on sofas of this nature on one end with their arms resting on the highly stylized curved arms. Title: North Shore (Boston Area) School of Thomas Seymour Early 19th Century Chest

Description

This chest has descended in the family of Captain John Anderson, a well known Massachusetts and Connecticut steamboat owner. The lunette inlay around both the top and base section is indicative of the school of the Seymours and today is considered a masterpiece type furniture. The interior of the top drawer was altered in the late Victorian time into a division made of Birds Eye Maple. The hardware is original to the piece and the finish is old if not original. Shipping on this item will vary depending on where you live. The Mahogany carcas is extremely well crafted, there are cookie cutter corners and this is a very appealing and desirable size.
