Title: 1806 Federal Mantle W/Fluting
|
| |
Description
In 1806, a family in Cocke County Tennessee had a mansion built with very detailed interiors. The mantle has double fluted columns on the sides, combs teeth molding along the front shaped cornice and is pegged pine and poplar. The original paint remains under perhaps one later layer of latex and could easily be restored. There is some old damage to one side that can easily be replaced, but there is certainly not enough problem to cause a structural concern. The detailing of this piece is extremely well done and this mantle is approximately 200 years of age. For a period house restoration, this would be ideal. |

Title: A Model of Saxon Sanctuary Chair In Hexam Abbey
|
| |
Description
The detailing of this pottery chair is unbelievable and the original box is very much intact with metal corners. The chair looks as if it has been carved from stone (which it has) and even the finish of the pottery is porous and ancient in appearance. For world travelers or people who need to have inherited from Grandparents Grand Tour this would be a good addition. The condition could not be better. It descended from an old East Tennessee Family who were travelers between WWI and WWII. |

Title: 1920s Dolphin Motif Brass Andirons
|
| |
Description
In the Roaring 20s, the new rich created mansions that reflected pasts that were not really
based on fact. In fact, the more fanciful, the better. These andirons reflect a love of the sea, and told
the viewers that their owners had made a lot of money and were able to afford anything they wanted. The
weight of these are simply unbelievable. The castings are very well done, and as is visible in the photos,
there is an old look of brass polish to the surface. The classical appearance of this would go with any
mantle or fireplace decoration. |
