Title: Two Views of Plan and Bird

Description
This pair of silk screen images shows two views of the same flowering plant and bird. Large areas of color are printed, and fine details and shading are added by painting over the printed surfaces. The pieces use mostly pink, gray, and green, and are painted on silk. One of the frames has had the glass broken and will need replacing but the intact and both are very crisp. These are visually appealing. Priced for the pair each painting 8in. x 10in.

Title: Moonlight Ducks

Two ducks coast along a misty, moonlit pond. Flowers and fog surround them as they make their way through the darkening waters. Details are added with black opaque ink. The colors are mainly subdued grays with the exception of accents of rose and blue on the male duck's plumage. No artist signature. It appears to date from the 1930s and the frame is original. 5in. x 12in. Framed 8in. x 15 1/2in.

Title: Hawk in Tree

Description
The gnarled branches of a flowering tree provide a lookout for a baby hawk guarding his recently captured prey. The energy of the birds stance is captured in his posture. The piece is printed on brown silk, and with washes of green, the illusion of white is created in the lighter areas of the flower and the highlights of the birds chest. The frame appears to be the original and would date to the 1930s. The marks on the right side are unknown to me and the piece is very well executed. 8in. x 10 1/2in. Framed 13 1/2in. x 16in.

Title: Green Bird and Flowers

Description
Red blossoming flowers project outward above a green and white bird perched on the plants lower branches. Varying thicknesses of ink show multiple tansparancies within the layers of the foliage. The piece is printed on brown silk. A very visually appealing piece that probably was made in the 1950s. 6in. x 17in. Matte 9in. x 19 1/2in.

Title: Tailor Shop

Description
This woodblock print shows workers toiling away at making shoes, gloves, and other items of clothes. Women work tirelessly with needlework as men cut and tan leather. A small child reaches up to give one of the women a helping hand. Clothing is hung on a pole to dry after having been dyed. The printmaker worked almost entirely with fine lines, showing detail to the smallest level. Each pattern of the workers’ clothing is interesting enough itself to be a separate piece of art. This appears to date from the 1920s. 10 1/2in. x 14in.

Title: Racing Birds

Description
Two birds dive fast, preparing to weave around enormous flowers and bamboo leaves. This painting on silk uses mostly green, including a large wash of color in the upper and lower portions of the image to show ground and sky. Dark outlines of the flower petal edges painted over with slightly transparent white paint produce an interesting effect. No signature is visible and the date would be around 1920. Visually, this is strong but also delicate. 13in. x 17in.

Title: Apple Still Life

Description
This watercolor of an apple uses color to emphasize the shading and shadows of the fruit. Several short brush strokes build up paint to darken areas. Thin black outlines loosely define the edges of the apple and stem. The artist has signed and dated in 1966 with a name that may be Lafina or Latina. 9in. x 10in. Frame 14in. x 15 1/2in.

Title: Banana Still Life

Description
A watercolor and ink drawing of a small bunch of bananas: greens and yellows outlined in brown and black make up the still life, with blue outlining the shadows. The contrast between the thick brush strokes of the color and the thin stokes of the pen nib create emphasis on the illustrative quality of this piece. The artist has signed this and dated 1966 around the chop mark. 9in. x 10in. Frame 14in. x 15 1/2in.

Title: Women at Fireworks Lighting Lantern

Description
Two older women and a young girl watch fireworks at night near a bridge over water. The youngest lights a lantern as the others talk. The reverse bears a tiny red seal and a stamp reading ` Japan.` Likely to have been printed no later than the 1950s, and this is a very action packed image with the boats in the water and the viewers on the bridge. 11in. x 15in.
